Rumor: Universal’s New Park to Have Classic Monsters Themed Escape Room?

The online news outlets were awash last week when Universal finally announced that it is building a new theme park up near the Orange County Convention Center.  The only problem with the announcement was that Universal gave almost no details on what will be contained within the new “ultra themed and highly detailed” park.

One “world” or land within the park that we have been speculating and discussing for months is the rumored addition of a Classic Monsters section, complete with Dracula’s Castle and a year-round haunted house type experience.

Adding to this rumor this week, Jim Hill on his very popular Disney Dish Podcast released a tidbit of information he had supposedly heard about this very land.  The idea goes that as Universal are forced to build their park up near the Convention Center, that they are going to use this location to its absolute best advantage by ensuring that the busy convention attendees (and their lucrative expense accounts!) have something to do in the evenings when the shows are over each night.

The idea that he heard was that Universal is playing with the intention of installing an upcharge experience within the Universal Monsters section of the park where guests could pay extra for a highly themed, one-of-a-kind Escape Room experience.  Such experiences have been prevalent as of late with over a dozen opening up in the wider Orlando area, and one was even rumored as far back as November last year to be opening in City Walk!  Here’s the trademarked name:
